The P&C Association welcomes you to Dakabin State School. We look forward to working with you, growing our school community to lead our children into the future through Dakabin.
The P&C Association meets on the third Tuesday of the month except when school vacations interrupt. The meetings vary between day and night meetings to allow for parents who work or due to family commitments a chance to attend.
We provide Sub-Committees which are formed each year and present reports on their activities to the monthly Meetings. Should you have any special skills or interests which would assist the School in any way, please advise the School and we will try to arrange to take advantage of your special skills to benefit our students. Meetings take place in the Staffroom at 7.30pm.
Banking The P & C operate School Banking with the help of a volunteer Banking co-ordinator. Banking day is Wednesday.
Deposit books are to be handed to the office.
Deposit books will be returned by Friday of that week to the class teacher.
Fundraising Various fundraising ventures are held throughout the school year. The P & C contribute $15,000 to the School budget every year as well as other items for the school community as needed. The Preschool deck was constructed in 2002 with support of Qld Gaming Commission.
Previous fundraising has provided the following as well as others not mentioned: Multi Purpose Courts. "K" Block. Power Box on oval. Covered walkway to modular classrooms. Computers in all classrooms networked to the library enabling internet and intranet. Library Books.
The collection of Pauls Milk Caps was profitable last year and this fundraiser is continuing this year so keep sending in the milk caps. You can leave them in the classrooms or at the office. We aim to return 2 bags of caps per term.
Volunteering your time when we need helpers for any of our fundraisers throughout the year is one way of helping us and as well you get to meet some new people.
Craft Shop The Craft Group meet every Tuesday in "K" block between 8:30am and 2:00pm.
Part of the P & C is our Craft Group. This wonderful group of volunteers creates great gifts throughout the year for sale at our 3 craft stalls during the year.
The 3 stalls are: Mothers Day, Fathers Day and Christmas. The gifts are available at these stalls for our students to purchase for members of their family at a reasonable price.
Why not come along and join in the fun of learning how to make craft items. No experience necessary except the ability to use scissors and glue. Our Craft Group Co-ordinator Lisa Ness provides all training on the job. K block is air conditioned and it is ok to bring toddlers.
