Camping program

The school camping program supports students from years 5 and 6 to engage in learning while developing their social skills beyond the regular school setting and regular school hours.

The program involves students from year 5 in a 2 night 3 day and year 6 students participate in a 5 day 4 night camp. An invitation to participate is extended to all students, with the cost of accommodation, meals, transport and activities to be met by the families of participating students prior to the camp. Students with special medical or social needs may be included in an abridged version of the camp tailored to meet these individual special needs.

Excursions

Teachers are challenged to make their class programs engaging and meaningful. To this end, classes participate in excursions to introduce / consolidate / extend the classroom based learning from time to time. Teachers are required to obtain the approval of the principal prior to advising students’ families of the arrangements. These approvals are to ensure that the activity directly relates to the learning program, that students will be adequately supervised, and that the cost and regularity of excursions are not excessive. Excursions are usually specific to particular year levels.
