The Dakabin community commemorated ANZAC Day with an amazing school ceremony run by our leaders on Friday morning. The weather was kind to us this year and were able to hold our ceremony on the grass at the flagpoles. All students spoke very well and were beautifully supported by our amazing choir led by Ms Eddleston. The whole school made poppies that were ‘planted’ on the hill on Friday morning. Every class made a gorgeous wreath in commemoration.

A very big thank you to everyone who brought in flowers and foliage that Mrs Gillies and her helpers used to make the amazing floral tributes that each class was able to lay.

Another big thanks to Mr Josh Taylor for coming along to play the bagpipes for our service, SPR L. Millard for coming along in uniform and staying afterwards and speaking to some classes and to all our invited guests who came to lay wreaths and books. We appreciate your support of our school.

Our 4 captains and Mr Drake also attended the ANZAC Commemoration for Schools at ANZAC Square in the city. This ceremony is attended by school students from across Brisbane.

On Saturday – ANZAC Day- over 30 students braved the weather to march along ANZAC Ave at Kallangur in the 2026 Kallangur Community ANZAC Day March. This was an amazing turn out and we certainly had one of the larger primary school groups. Again, our leaders stayed for the ceremony to lay wreaths on behalf of our community. A big thank you to all the parents, students and staff who came along, in less than perfect weather, to represent our amazing school.
