During the past two week students from Prep to Year 6 have participated in various NAIDOC activities. There were a lot of amazing activities put together by DSS teachers to help students build intercultural understanding and celebrate our First Nations People. Students also enjoyed visits from Indigenous elders who shared their wealth of knowledge with us through dance, song and dreamtime stories.

As part of our NAIDOC celebrations, DSS introduce its very first ATSIC Dance Mob who preformed an ‘Acknowledgement of Country’ for the school. Our aim is to foster a strong sense of identity, pride and self-esteem amongst our students to enable them to develop a wider recognition and understanding of First Nations People culture, history and Country/Place within the community.
