On Thursday 24th of August, Prep to Year 6 students dressed up for our annual Book Week event. Students and teachers had been working hard all week to decorate their block in the 2023 theme “Read, Grow and Inspire". During the day, students were given the opportunity to walk around to each classroom block and see their theme. Students could then vote for their favourite block.

Prep students started our journey as we ventured onto the Farm that was full of kind farmers, cute animals and educated us on the importance of farming.

Year 1 took us deep into the “100 Acre Wood" where we discovered all of Christopher Robin's best friends including Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Kanga and Roo.

Year 2 saw us adventuring into potion land with “George's Marvellous Medicine". We discovered all the wacky and wonderful ingredients George used when making his medicine for Grandma and the animals.

Year 3 inspired us to be brave and learn strategies to grow, overcome and face our fears just like “Kumiko and the Dragon". There were clowns, vampires, ghosts, spiders, deep oceans and ghosts to name a few!  Thankfully, Mr Drake didn't get too scared when he saw the clown!

Year 4/5 invited us to meet a range of friendly gnomes and we visited their beautiful thriving garden “From little things, big things grow!"  Mr Ethan gnome even played us some magical gnome tunes on his pan whistle.

Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning sent us to “Neverland" in the Year 5/6 block. We especially loved meeting Mr Clarey as Tinkerbell!

The office was filled of “Where's Wally's" and we were challenged throughout the day to count and locate them all.

D Block had us falling down the rabbit hole into the fantasy world of “Wonderland" where we took a potion to make us small enough to fit through the door!  We were able to meet the Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, Queen of Hearts and Alice in Wonderland.

Miss Jaynie and her tuckshop crew were “Very Hungry Caterpillars" until they ate some delicious tuckshop food and became beautiful butterflies!

The library was full of Dakabin State School kindness, and it bloomed with beautiful sunflowers!

Thank you to all the staff and students who made our 2023 Book Week possible. Congrats to the Block winners Year 6
