Last Tuesday and Wednesday, we held our annual Sports Days. We were blessed to have such beautiful weather and a wonderful turn out from our school community.
On Tuesday, the Juniors (Prep to Year 2) kicked off with sprints in the morning and the kids performed brilliantly staying in their lanes and flying past the finishing posts. The large numbers of parents cheered on the students, which created a great atmosphere. We finished the morning with parent races, that included mums, dads and grandparents. Luckily, no hamstrings were torn (apart from Mr Drake's later in the carnival).
The Junior School students returned after a picnic lunch to participate in the field event rotation. These events included high jump, long jump, vortex throwing, egg 'n' spoon races, hurdle races and sack races. Again, it was 'super' to see students performing skills practised throughout the term, while assisted by teachers and supported by parents.
On Wednesday, it was the Senior School's (Year 3 to Year 6) turn to hit the track for sprint heats, sprint semis and finals. It was a tremendous day with excellent running performances, but also a lot of fun had by all the students. During the day, the students sprinted, had a house tug-of-war competition and even a lunchtime disco with the Chicken Dance, Macarena and Nutbush enjoyed.
The Carnival ended with presentations to the House Champions and Individual Age Champions. The school was honoured to have Dr Steven Miles MP, our Deputy Premier and State Member for Murrumba along with Mr Drake to present these awards.
