On Thursday 9th March, the Year 1 cohort went on their first excursion to CREEC (Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre) at Burpengary.
This excursion relates closely to our Science unit Healthy Habitats where students create an animal habitat suited to their needs and explain changes of habitats.
During our excursion our amazing CREEC volunteers Kim and Bronwyn lead us on three activities. First, we went on a bush walk looking for wildlife and exploring the natural habitats around us. Then, we learn about native plants in the Moreton Bay Region. We were lucky enough to plant our own Lomandra plant to bring home. Next, we learnt about catchment and pollution, and why we need to keep our waterways clean for plants and animals in their habitats. We also got to visit the CREEC centre and look at interactive plant and animal displays from our local area. Finally, we had a fun play on the playground.
Thankyou to all our Year 1 students, parent helpers and teachers for a wonderful excursion.
