This term in science, year two are learning about life cycles and life stages. To support our learning, the year 2 cohort attended the Nudgee Beach Environmental Education Centre.
During our excursion we had the opportunity to participate in hands on experiences that included learning about the Moreton Bay Area, types of butterflies native to the area, planting seeds and Lomandra plants and exploring the waterways at Nudgee Beach. During beach exploration we hunted for yabbies, search for arthropods and got to see male and female mud crabs up close. We learnt about the life cycles of plants, mud crabs and butterflies.
To further support our learning back in the classroom, each year two class is maintaining and observing mealworms and growing plants from seed so we can observe the changes that occur throughout their life cycles.
